Ruderman Family Foundation

Our communities count on our First Responders when we are in trouble or have an emergency, but who do they turn to when they need help? Located in beautiful sunny Orange County, California, The 1st Call is a treatment center that was created by and exclusively for First Responders. We treat trauma, addiction and the mental health challenges that are associated with life as a First Responder. If recovery is to be successful, we must treat sensitive issues in a setting that sets an atmosphere that creates and holds trust and confidentiality. Our Clinical team and support staff are culturally-competent as well as experienced in the special needs of these extraordinary men and women

The 1st Call is built on the hard evidence that civilian treatment centers do not work for First Responders. Stigma is a barrier to treatment for most people. With First Responders, the fear of being judged or the fact that they are in treatment and their department finds out causes them to not feel safe and they simply shut down. Being with their peers, their brothers and sisters, establishes a level of trust that enables them to open up and be honest, a basic tenet of recovery.
